Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Office of Academic Programs and Office of Student Affairs

Instructors with concerns regarding graduate students’ academic progress should contact the Office of Academic Programs. The Office of Academic Programs is dedicated to promoting student academic success by supporting the faculty and students based in master’s degree and PhD programs at Harvard Griffin GSAS. The Office of Academic Programs oversees many initiatives and areas of focus, including academic policy, advising, new degree program development and review, and research workshops.

Instructors with concerns regarding a student’s personal welfare should contact the Office of Student Services and/or the Office of Student Success. The Student Services team provides advice and ongoing support to students on a variety of issues, making referrals to other services as necessary. They connect with students who may be experiencing academic or personal challenges to provide them support, help them navigate and connect to resources, and strategize and problem-solve. They assist students in emergency situations and provide guidance to Harvard faculty and staff regarding students of concern. The Office of Student Success aids students in their progress toward their degree as well as adherence to policies.

Both Offices of Student Services and Student Success are under the Office of Student Affairs and are directed by the Dean of Students, who has general responsibility for the welfare of graduate students. The Dean represents students in disciplinary cases before the Administrative Board of the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
